De Deur police discovered the body of a woman, between 25 and 35 years old, in an open field near a smallholding in Bronkhorstfontein in Johannesburg South on Saturday. Her body was badly consumed by the fire.
Tshegofatso Maliehe, the spokesperson for the De Deur police, says a member of the community notified the police of the burnt body in the afternoon. Police officers went to the field, where they found her body on a piece of gravel in the field. It seems that a part of the field also burned.
“The woman had a plastic bag over her head that melted over her face during the fire. Her hands and feet were tied with rags, ”says Maliehe.
Police do not yet know who the woman is.
Maliehe says the police are investigating a case of murder. The motive for the murder is not yet known.
