Police Minister Bheki Cele confirmed an EFF MP had been arrested during the ongoing protests at Clicks’ shops.
Cele said in a statement that ten people, including an EFF MP, had been arrested on charges of property destruction.
The MP is accused of assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.
The minister further emphasized that the safety of Clicks’ employees and customers should be a priority for the police amid the “organized incidents of vandalism at Clicks stores in some provinces”.
He condemned the numerous incidents of vandalism such as the petrol bomb attack in eMahlahleni on Monday.
