The Police in Gauteng arrested more than 1360 and seized 91 illlegal firearms over the weekend. According to a statement by the Police Newsroom, intensified multi-disciplinary operations in Gauteng led to the rest of more that 1360 suspects and the recovery of 91 illegal firearms.
344 Were arrested for driving under influence of alcohol. The police says in a statement that it’s concerned about people who still drive while under the influence.
According to a statement by the police, Gauteng residents should expect more roadblocks, stop and searches as well as raiding of liquor outlets even during Covid- 19 lockdown regulations level one.
590 Of the suspects were arrested in Ekurhuleni for crimes ranging from possession of drugs, assaults’, possession of suspected stolen property, theft, rape sexual assault and fraud.
420 Of the suspects were arrested by the police in Tshwane for committing burglaries, possession of suspected stolen property, robbery, and driving while under the influence of alcohol.
Arrested suspects will appear before different magistrate courts in Gauteng in due course says SAPS.
