One of four suspects arrested on Friday connected with the farm murder of Pieter Hills (56), and the attack on his son appeared briefly in the town’s magistrate’s court on Monday.
Pieter was killed on their farm at Hennenman in the Free State at the end of last week, and his son, Eddie (26), was shot in the neck after they were attacked in their farmhouse.
Brig. Police spokesperson Motantsi Makhele said the suspect, Tshidiso Patrick Bochedi, 36, appeared in court on conspiracy charges to commit murder, attempted murder, and house robbery.
He remains in custody until he appears in court again next Monday to begin his application for bail.
Makhele says the second suspect is expected to appear in the same court on Wednesday, while the third one was released after she could not be positively linked to the crime.
The fourth suspect was found dead in a police cell early on Saturday morning after hanging himself.
“The investigation is continuing, and more arrests can be expected. “At this stage, we can not confirm how many suspects still need to be arrested,” according to Makhele.
