One of Stefan Smit’s alleged murderers claimed in his bail application on Thursday that members of the EFF could be responsible for Smit’s murder.

Derek Sait (56) appeared alongside Zurenah Smit (55) and Steven Damons (50) in connection with Smit’s murder on 2 June 2019.

The state alleges that the three planned Smit’s murder.

Sait argued in his bail application that he had evidence that EFF members were responsible for the murder of Stefan Smit.

According to Sait, he has statements from people who will testify in his trial that the murdered EFF leader and Zola and other Kayamandi land grabbers were responsible for the threats and attacks carried out on Smit’s farm, Watergang.

According to Sait, he was initially appointed by Smit to help his brother, Bradley van Eynsland, to strengthen security at Watergang and also Louiesenhof.

Van Eynsland was appointed by Smit shortly after residents of Kayamandi began occupying parts of Watergang.
