Western Cape police are investigating a case of burglary after a burglary at a liquor store in Bothasig in Cape Town in the early hours of Tuesday. This incident follows a few days after Pres. Cyril Ramaphosa reinstated the liquor ban.
Police spokesperson Novela Potelwa said in a statement that a security company informed the owner of the liquor store around 04:35 that the alarm of the store had gone off.
The owner rushed him to the premises where he noticed on his arrival that the security gates in front of the store had been forcibly removed. A window next to the front door was also broken.
According to Potelwa, significantly expensive bottles of liquor were stolen during the incident.
Police are now appealing to people to come forward with any information regarding the incident.
