Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo has instructed the Zondo Commission secretary to file a criminal charge against the former president. Jacob Zuma to submit to the police.

Zondo announced at a meeting of the commission on Monday that the commission would also take other steps against Zuma on an urgent basis.

This comes after Zuma left a sitting of the commission during the tea break without permission on Thursday, although he was summoned to testify here last week.

Zuma was unhappy that his application was rejected for Zondo to withdraw as chairman of the commission.

Before the tea break, Adv, Paul Pretorius, head of the commission’s legal team, made it clear that Zuma may not excuse himself because the summons is still valid.

Zondo said on Monday that Zuma’s actions affected the integrity of the commission, the rule of law and public accountability.

“If this were to happen, the commission would not be able to be operational. That is why it is important for the commission’s effective functioning that its actions are in line with the law. ”
