High possibility of loadshedding Eskom warns

Published

on

Eskom warned on Thursday evening that for the first time in three months, load shedding may occur again.

Eskom says it currently has a large number of power generation units out of service due to planned maintenance.

This is currently complicating the situation after a large number of power stations suddenly failed.

In total, 7 532 megawatts (MW) of power generation capacity is out of order due to planned maintenance.

With that, another 10 853 MW has now failed.

This means that more than a third of Eskom’s total power generation capacity is currently out of order for various reasons.
