The government has just tweeted that the ban on alcohol and tobacco products will remain in place “for the entire duration of the restriction”.
The data referred to is that 2% of cases of people with knife wounds are admitted to the ward and stay there for an average period of 5 days. A link is drawn between knife wounds and the use of alcohol – statistics that are not immediately verifiable.
The impact of people being hit with a blunt object is apparently worse, government statistics say. Of the 72% of cases admitted to hospitals, a quarter must be admitted to the intensive care unit. They then stay there for an average of 9 days.
