Another retailer is bending their knee to the EFF. According to a report by eNCA, Checkers will be removing all TRESemmé products of their shelves.
This comes after Clicks removed all TRESemmé hair products from its shelves.
Clicks’s latest move in its efforts to put out fires after a racial riot erupted over the way black women’s hair was portrayed in a TRESemmé advertisement of the store group.
The Clicks store group announced the decision in a statement on Tuesday after the ad was widely publicized, prompting the EFF to hold protests at Clicks stores nationwide.
According to the statement, the gap left by TRESemmé’s hair products will be filled by local hair care brands of which Clicks already has an extensive range.
Although Clicks has already suspended everyone involved in the ad pending a disciplinary process, the store group has also now accepted the resignation of the responsible senior executive.
