The Democratic Alliance on Thursday filed criminal charges against Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, EFF MP, for inciting arson after a song he sang in Senekal.
The song’s words can be translated as “call the fire brigade, burn these Boers”.
Natasha Mazzone, chief whip of the DA, said in a statement that these words were not only full of hatred but were also incitement to arson, violence, and anarchy by Ndlozi and his “fellow EFF quasi-revolutionaries.”
The DA strongly condemns Ndlozi’s statements. “It is a sign of his absolute contempt for the security of rural communities and their lives, and a sign of his own and his party’s total contempt for democracy, the law and private property rights.”
Fires destroyed thousands of hectares of land in the Free State. “Although the cause of the fires is still unknown, we know that a politician who sings songs that ‘the fire brigade must be called’ and ‘the Boers must burn,’ was followed by large-scale destruction.”
Mazzone says the EFF is known for inciting violence and destruction. “Rather, they want to see South Africa burn down in the pursuit of their narrow political interests. The DA will not just stand and watch fascist, racist bullies like the EFF disregard the land laws. The DA is a party of rules, laws, constitutionality, and democracy. ”
