Hluhluwe police officers followed up information about two vehicles that were smuggling dagga between Swaziland and Hluhluwe.
The information led the team to the N2 freeway at the Phinda turn off. Two vehicles were spotted with six occupants, and they were stopped. Police conducted a search, and the two cars were found loaded with bags of dagga. The estimated street value of the recovered dagga is R3 million. A total of six suspects aged between 23 and 42 were placed under arrest.
It was established that the suspects were in the country illegally as they failed to produce the required documents. They are expected to appear before the Mtubatuba Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
