A pregnant woman and mother of two children were killed Saturday night in a farm attack in Weenen, KwaZulu-Natal.

The 26-year-old woman’s husband was also severely assaulted in the attack and was hospitalized.

Police said three armed robbers entered the family’s property around 19:00 with face masks on.

They apparently gained access to the house through the kitchen door.

“The suspects found the man in the kitchen. He was threatened with a knife and asked for money, ”says Capt. Nqobile Gwala, provincial police spokesperson.

“During the altercation, one of the attackers took the two children to a room and the woman to the bathroom. Her throat was cut with a knife, ”says Gwala.

The attackers fled shortly after without stealing anything.

“The children were traumatized but not mercifully injured,” says Gwala.

He says police are investigating a murder case. “The matter is being dealt with urgently,” says Gwala.

Christopher Pappas, DA spokesman for agriculture and rural development in KwaZulu-Natal, strongly condemned the murder and attack.

“The DA is very shocked. What makes this murder so much worse is that the woman was pregnant, ”he says.

This is the third farm murder in less than 3 days.

Yesterday SA Updates reported a 45-year-old man killed on farm in Western Cape.
