Loadshedding remains for Monday

Eskom resumed load shedding at 08:00 on Sunday morning after it was canceled at around 22:00 on Saturday evening.

Eskom is constantly working to re-employ all his generating units the statement says. However, the power grid is expected to remain under severe pressure in the coming week. “Eskom appeals to people to help reduce electricity consumption in order to mitigate the effects of load shedding.”

Load shedding will continue until 10pm Sunday night. This is being done in order to replenish the emergency generator reserves so that they can be better prepared for the coming week. “Due to the considerably colder weather, the demand for electricity has increased significantly.”

Eskom’s maintenance workers succeeded on Saturday in re-employing three generating units at the Arnot, Duvha and Kendal power stations, respectively. This added 1,565 MW to the power grid. However, efforts are still being made to repair generating units at the Tutuka, Kriel and Hendrina power stations respectively.
