Police released a statement on Monday that Genl. Khehla Sitole, national police commissioner, reached an agreement on rural safety at a meeting with AfriForum and the agricultural organizations TAU SA and AgriSA in Pretoria.
These three organizations will also in future serve on a high-level committee of the police that will monitor the implementation of the police’s rural security plan.
The agreement includes the establishment of national and local command centers where members of the police and farm guard members will work together.
According to the police, farm guards and the police’s resources will also be combined by the command centers to tackle, among other things, farm attacks.
