Ramaphosa expected to announce the return of tobacco and alcohol sales

Dlamini-Zuma extended South Africa’s national state of disaster on Saturday. This does not mean South Africa cannot move to level 2 of the lockdown.

Credible sources confirmed that South Africa’s strict lockdown restrictions will be lifted. The sale of tobacco and alcohol products will continue.

Here’s the expected announcements during the weekend:

  • The ban on tobacco products will be lifted
  • The ban on alcohol sales will be lifted
  • Some travel restrictions will be relaxed

These announcements was confirmed by Bloomberg.

In order for the government to continue some restrictions, Minister Dlamini-Zuma had to extend the national state of disaster on Saturday:
