Pres. Cyril Ramaphosa will address the country again tonight regarding the latest developments during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Ramaphosa spokesperson Khusela Diko confirmed that the president is expected to address the country at 20:00.
“The president’s speech follows a number of meetings of the cabinet and the national Covid-19 command council,” she said.
The president’s speech will be broadcast live on various TV channels and radio stations and a series of online platforms.
Ramaphosa is expected to make an announcement on whether schools will remain open. Trade unions are demanding that schools close again after the pandemic has reached a peak in South Africa because learners ‘and teachers’ lives are allegedly threatened if schools remain open. It is reported that schools may close for three weeks.
