Police in Mogwadi in the Capricorn district arrested a member of the South African National Defense Force (SANDF) on Thursday who allegedly shot a 27-year-old man for not wearing a mask.

According to Netwerk24, Limpopo police spokesperson Motlafela Mojapelo confirmed on Thursday evening that a 27-year-old man was shot at a local shopping complex around 12:30.

“Soldiers were on a patrol to make sure that Covid-19 regulations were complied with when they saw a group of people not wearing masks. An argument arose and a man was shot by one of the soldiers, “said Mojapelo.

“The injured man was taken to a local hospital where he received medical treatment. The 29-year-old soldier has been arrested and will be charged with attempted murder. He is expected to appear in the Magistrate’s Court in Morabeng on Friday, “said Mojapelo according to Netwerk24.
