A serial rapist from Modimolle in Limpopo who raped young girls was sent to prison for 40 years.

Ephraim Malose Motebele, 35, was convicted in the Modimolle Regional Court last week on four charges of rape and four counts of sexual assault.

On August 28, 2017, he used a 15-year-old girl from Phagameng, outside Modimolle, to lure three more young girls between the ages of 9 and 15 to him.

Limpopo National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi said the court had heard that Motebele had the girls sniff glue.

While they were intoxicated, he raped them.

Motebele was arrested in September 2017 after one of his victims showed her brother where she and the other girls had been raped.

Police were called and Motebele was arrested in a zinc house in Phagameng.

Motebele was never released on bail and denied guilt on all the charges against him.

However, DNA has linked him to all the charges of rape against him.

Motebele was sentenced to 30 years in prison on charges of rape and another ten years in prison on charges of sexual assault.
