South African power system under severe pressure says Eskom

“Our power system is under severe pressure,” says Eskom.
Eskom has asked all costumers to switch off all additional lights, geysers, pool pumps, and other non-essential appliances.

In Thabo Mofutsanyama in the Free State, to avoid the infrastructure’s damage and the network overload, the power utility executes load modulation.

The areas affected between 5 pm and 10 pm will be the following:

Eskom is implementing load reduction in Mopani, Sekhukhune, and Capricorn Districts in Limpopo.

Eskom says they are doing their best to follow up on the rising equipment failure caused by overloading, requiring millions in repairs.

Eskom says that due to a possibility of damage when the power supply returns, costumers are recommended to switch off all their electrical appliances. Failures to comply might lead to transformer trips and damages, and even losses of household appliances.
