Suspects arrested for possession of stolen goods and dealing drugs in Mbekweni

On Friday, 2020-09-25, at about 15:50, criminals hijacked two dairy trucks hijacked in Mbekweni. The suspects locked the drivers in the back of the trucks while opening the safes located inside the trucks. SAPS received information on the whereabouts of the suspects and the stolen goods.

A joint operation by the Provincial Integrated Team and local SAPS was conducted in Mafila Street V71 and V72 Mbekweni. Eight suspects were arrested for the hijacking incident and were detained for the possession of stolen goods and dealing in dagga. They will appear in court on Monday, 2020-09-28, on the mentioned charges.

In an unrelated matter on Thursday, in Kraaifontein, SAPS members focusing on combatting gang violence in the area and followed up on information about a suspect who was allegedly in possession of ammunition. When approached by the members, the 25-year-old male suspect ran away, but he was chased by police and arrested. He had ammunition.

He is expected to appear in the Blue Downs Regional Court on Monday, 2020-09-28.
