WATCH: Legal practitioner has a meltdown it in court, says 'F**k you judge

An incident recently shared online shows a legal practitioner losing his cool in the Pretoria High Court.

The Legal Practice Council (LPC) condemns in the strongest terms the recent behavior of two legal practitioners in court proceedings that took place in Gauteng and Limpopo.

“As the regulatory body of the legal profession in South Africa, we believe that our judicial system is one of the most robust in the world. The unbecoming behaviour by both legal practitioners shows total disregard of our judicial system and complete lack of respect for the presiding officer and the Judiciary. It is unfortunate and concerning, as it seems that such conduct is becoming endemic and we will be taking steps against both legal practitioners in line with the Council’s disciplinary processes” said Kathleen Matolo -Dlepu, Chairperson of the Legal Practice Council

The LPC believes in the right to freedom of expression, however it is alarmed by the lack of decorum and professionalism demonstrated by the practitioners who are aware of the mechanisms that can be followed should they not be in agreement with a presiding officer.

The LPC urges the legal profession to play a central role in respecting the judiciary and to espouse the highest degree of professionalism and integrity when engaging with judges and magistrates.

The Legal Practice Council (LPC) condemned the incident on Facebook.
