A Boston doctor in the United States who is allergic to shellfish has developed a severe allergic reaction after receiving Moderna’s coronavirus vaccine on Thursday, the New York Times reported on Friday.

Reuters reports dr. Hossein Sadrzadeh of Boston Medical Center said he had a severe reaction almost immediately after being vaccinated. He felt dizzy and had heart palpitations, according to the New York Times.

This is the first allergic reaction publicly linked to Moderna’s vaccine. This is the first week that the vaccine has been administered anywhere in America.

Medical center spokesman David Kibbe said in a statement on Friday that Sadrzadeh had indicated he was developing an allergic reaction and was allowed to administer epinephrine to himself.

He was taken to the emergency room, evaluated, treated, held for observation and discharged.

“He is doing well today,” said the center.
