More than 10,000 new COVID-19 cases in South Africa



Health Minister Zweli Mkhize announced on Twitter that 10,008 new COVID-19 cases had been reported in South Africa over the last 24 hours.

During the same time, 166 deaths have been reported. This brings the COVID-19 death toll in South Africa to 23,827 and the cumulative cases to 883,687.

Mkhize singled out the Western Cape where more than 3,000 infections have been reported in the past 24 hours. Increases were also reported in seven other provinces while the Eastern Cape reported a slight decrease in infections.
