Jessie Duarte, deputy secretary-general of the ANC, says South Africa now has a second wave of the coronavirus.

“We are now reaching another wave of the coronavirus. And in some provinces, it is moving quite fast. We want to appeal to people to wear their masks, maintain social distancing, to wash their hands, and stay away from crowds of people. Don’t go to rallies, shebeens, pubs, or parties. ”

She says it’s time to keep yourself safe so you can keep others safe.

“Remember it’s in our hands now.”

In a statement on Monday, Alan Winde, Western Cape premier, said that the Western Cape was still seeking legal advice on how local restrictions could be imposed as only the national government had the power to impose restrictions. No decision has been made in this regard yet.

Winde says he re-established the weekly strategy meetings on Friday to discuss problems and find solutions so that the province can prepare itself for reinfections. The province also wants to try to prevent its health system from being put under too much pressure.
