Police on Tuesday issued identikits for the five suspects wanted in connection with the attack on Waldi and Cynthia van Zyl on their farm near Bronkhorstspruit in Gauteng.
Six men allegedly assaulted and tortured the couple last Sunday between 17:00 and 18:00 on their farm, Spitskop.
One suspect has already been arrested last week and is expected to appear in court on Friday.
The 64-year-old Waldi suffered, among other things, facial and skull fractures and wounds to his leg and had to undergo emergency surgery on the night of the attack. Cynthia, 53, was released from the hospital last Wednesday and is progressing well under the circumstances. She suffered a head wound and bruises all over her body and cuts on her legs.
The couple was apparently beaten with wooden planks and pipes. One of Waldi’s legs was apparently cut with an angle grinder and Cynthia was assaulted with a screwdriver.
The attackers demanded a large sum of money.
