Angelo Agrizzi, a former Bosasa employee, turned himself in at the Brackendowns police station in Gauteng on Wednesday.
He appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on the same day with Vincent George Smith, former ANC MP.
According to the indictment, Smith, and Agrizzi, are charged with corruption.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority’s (NPA) investigation directorate, the arrests come after Bosasa paid money to Smith so that he could protect the company from investigations into the multi-billion rand tenders that the state awarded to Bosasa, reports Hanti Otto.
The money was, according to the Hawks, paid into Euroblitz’s account. Smith is also charged with fraud for his “intentional non-disclosure” of benefits in parliament’s register of members’ interests, as required by law.
