The two accused for Brendin Horner’s murder and another man came from the direction of Mount Thabo Mofutsanyana, according to witnesses.
They were wet because it was raining lightly and one had blood on him. One of the men apparently boasted in the tavern that they used the man’s bakkie to drive away from the farm.
Captain Myburgh testified a woman made a statement that she heard three men talking in the tavern. Defendant number one, Mahlamba, according to her, said they assaulted a man who “bothered” them. Defendant number two, Matlaletsa, allegedly boasted that they had tied the man to a fence post.
Myburgh says clothes with blood on them were found in Mahlamba’s house. At Matlaletsa’s house, clothes that were still wet were on the clothesline. The police confiscated all the clothes.
Myburgh says Horner’s work van was found abandoned along the tarmac.
The bakkie was stained with blood and the police took samples of the blood as well as fingerprints.
