A second suspect was arrested on Sunday morning in connection with the murder of a mother and daughter from Polokwane in Limpopo.
Police spokesperson Motlafela Mojapelo said the second suspect, a 30-year-old man, was arrested in Polokwane around 08:00. The first suspect, a 35-year-old man from Zimbabwe, was arrested in the early hours of the morning in Mookgophong.
“The suspects will appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on two charges of murder and house robbery. The 35-year-old suspect will also appear on charges related to violations of the Immigration Act as he is believed to be in the country illegally. “
The bodies of Lizette Deacon and her mother, Hettie, were found in their car along the R37 at the Kushcke off-ramp, outside Polokwane, late on Thursday night after they were abducted in the late afternoon after visiting their townhouse in Welgelegen.
Both women were tied up and had multiple stab wounds.
Lizette was the owner of the Ocean Basket restaurants in the Mall of the North and Savannah shopping center in Polokwane.
