Sikhumbuzo Eric Kholwane, a member of the ANC provincial executive committee in Mpumalanga was arrested on Monday for the alleged rape of his daughters.
Lindiwe Ntshalintshali, acting provincial secretary of the ANC, says the ruling party is shocked by allegations that one of its members allegedly raped his two daughters.
The man, who has not yet pleaded guilty to the charge against him, was arrested at his home earlier today and is expected to appear in the Magistrate’s Court in Nelspruit.
The man in question has meanwhile been suspended as a member of the ANC pending the settlement of the case.
“The appeal to stand back will take place along with other formal procedures of the ANC when its members and leaders are in conflict with the law,” Ntshalintshali said.
These procedures include appearing before the ANC’s integrity committee as well as its disciplinary committee.
“The ANC stands with the victims and complainants in this matter and assures them that it will do everything in its power to make things right.”
