Lizette Deacon (55) and her mother, Hettie (79), were abducted from their townhouse in Welgelegen last Thursday and beaten in the back of Lizette’s white Honda utility vehicle.
Their bodies with several knife wounds were found hours later in the field along the R37 road, about 25 km outside Polokwane.
Their hands were tied with cable ties and rags were tied around their heads.
Lizette was the owner of the Ocean Basket restaurants in Mall of the North and in Savannah Mall. Hettie helped her with the management duties.
The community at the memorial called for South Africa to reinstate the death penalty for farm murders.
Gawie Louwrens of Bosveld Crime investigations and police detectives arrested a 35-year-old Zimbabwean in a house in Mookgophong around 03:00 on Sunday.
The second accused, a 30-year-old man, was arrested in Polokwane around 08:00.
The men appeared in court on Tuesday morning.
