After Eskom downgraded load shedding to phase 1 on Sunday afternoon, a higher phase kicks in again on Monday.
According to the power supplier, phase 1 load shedding will resume on Monday at 08:00 after being suspended on Sunday at 22:00. Phase 1 will then last until 16:00.
Phase 2 applies from 16:00 to 22:00.
The pattern will be repeated on Tuesday and “most likely” on Wednesday as well.
The power provider said load shedding was put into operation this past weekend to replenish emergency generation reserves that had been depleted in the past week.
Unplanned maintenance work has taken 9 272MW out of the network, while 6 314MW is not available due to planned maintenance work.
