The EFF will meet with Clicks’s leadership on Thursday morning at the request of Clicks regarding the controversial advertisement.
The EFF said in a statement that the meeting “is an attempt at a friendly settlement between the EFF and Clicks on matters of racial discrimination, as well as the planning of reasonable steps to ensure that there is accountability for the offensive advertisement”.
According to the statement, the meeting was scheduled for 10:00 at the EFF’s head office in Braamfontein in Johannesburg. The EFF’s delegation will be led by party leader Julius Malema, while Clicks CEO Vikesh Ramsunder will represent the shopping group during the meeting.
Meanwhile, EFF Secretary-General Marshall Dlamini has written a letter to Alile Jope, CEO of Unilever, regarding the advertisement originally issued by TRESemmé Hair Products.
The EFF now gives the company 24 hours to resolve the issue regarding the advertisement. Should that not happen, the EFF will act decisively, Dlamini said.
Clicks, meanwhile, confirmed that its stores will reopen Thursday after it closed today.
