No restrictions planned for Western Cape

The Western Cape does not plan any mini-restrictions and does not support an overall restriction in the province, says Alan Winde’s spokesperson, Bianca Capazorio.

“While we are very concerned about the rising coronavirus cases and the number of active cases, our main focus is hospitalizations and the number of people dying from the viral disease.”

She says the Western Cape government does not support any restrictions because people will lose their jobs if a restriction is enforced again. She believes the focus should rather be on flattening the rising coronavirus cases.

The Western Cape government says the increases are coming because people are no longer on their guard about the virus.

Capazorio called on people from other provinces to wear their masks, maintain healthy distances and wash their hands when they come to the Western Cape on holiday.
