Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, was asked in a written question by the DA to state in which municipality the capital of the Republic can be found.
George Michalakis, DA MP and member of the national council of provinces, said in a statement that Dlamini-Zuma replied: “The information requested by the honorable member will be submitted as soon as it is available.”
“It is inconceivable that a minister, who does not even know where the capital is, should be in charge of the management of all cities and municipalities in the country,” Michalakis said. “This is further proof that Dlamini-Zuma does not regard her parliamentary duties in a serious light, regardless of the fact that she is fully accountable to parliament.”
“The reaction will be sent to Ramaphosa and Deputy Pres. Mabuza with a request that the minister be fired immediately. South Africans deserve more from their cabinet ministers and the execution of their constitutional duties. In fact, South Africa simply deserves better cabinet ministers. “
