Advocate Thuli Madonsela, former public protector said on Twtter that In her view, “the Clicks case ,is a textbook case of unconscious bias. Calling it out is great but anarchy and violence undermine the cause. The best and most cerebral response I’ve seen so far is a video by young black women, among them my colleague”.
The former public protector then goes on to say “protest is the language of the unheard and violence, the language of the disempowered. Is our constitutional democracy working? Are our parliamentary representatives empowered to use democratic institutions to make a difference?”
The EFF’s Mbuyiseni Ndlozi was quick to fire back and said “Find the nearest hell Thuli… when you get there, you know the cerebral thing to do. We need no approval from your coconut logic. Protest is the constitutionally right thing to do when authorities do not punish racism. #BlackLivesMatter & we stop Racism BEFORE it kills Blacks!”.
