The DA says in a statement “a diverse group of its members” attended today’s rally in Senekal to give their support to the family of Brendin Horner.
“The DA was also there to express our indignation at the continuing criminal attacks on our farming community.
“The DA regards the owners of farms as well as their employees as farmers. Brendin Horner has paid the highest price for his career choice as a young South African farmer. Indeed continues to be one of the most serious security and economic threats to our farming community. Crime on farms, which includes murder and rape, is already considered an expensive, low-intensity war by the agricultural community and must be recognized as such by the government.
“The DA’s presence in Senekal is also a tribute to all farmers who contribute to the production of our food and clothing through their sweat and hard work, and very often through blood and tears. Our farmers who provide food security are national assets that deserve the respect of a grateful people and the protection of the government.
