Ace Magashule will not stand aside

Ace Magashule told reporters that he would not stand aside.

He told reporters in Parys, Free State, after a rally on gender-based violence against women. A special meeting of the ANC’s national executive committee (NEC) would also not be convened to discuss the commission’s report.

In this report, the commission proposes that the NEC should instruct Magashule to stand aside, pending the charges of corruption, fraud and money laundering against him.

The integrity commission says in the letter that it recommends that the NEC immediately implement the decision it took in early August.

At that meeting in August, it was decided that any member of the ANC who is officially charged with corruption or another serious crime should immediately resign from all leadership positions pending the case’s settlement against him or her.

Magashule told reporters that the media should not be allowed to pressure the ANC to make a decision.
