DA leader challenge Malema to give up his police protection after Malema threatened police

DA leader John Steenhuisen challenged Julius Malema of the EFF on Friday to suspend the protection he receives from the police.

Steenhuisen challenged Malema to a webcast of the party.

The EFF leader said in a speech to his supporters in the Mohokare municipality in the Free State last week that the police are cowards and their uniforms make them act superior.

Police Minister Bheki Cele said Malema was inciting violence against police officers and their families.

“I think the EFF leader has exceeded the limit. “You are not going to threaten the police and think that their arms will be folded,” said Cele.

Steenhuisen said on Friday that it was very dangerous to threaten the police against the background of police killings in the country. He added that the government and parliament should address the EFF on its tactics.

According to Steenhuisen, Malema is the only opposition leader who receives protection from the police.

“I think it’s a shame that you, who get protection from the police, expect people to attack those you rely on for your safety. I think this is the pinnacle of hypocrisy, ‚ÄĚSteenhuisen said.

In 2018, it was reported that Malema enjoys police protection. The EFF leader shared racist remarks and threats he received on Twitter last week.
