The DA in Limpopo has filed a complaint against an ANC councilor from the Makhado municipality in Louis Trichardt for allegedly inviting a number of friends to her home to celebrate her birthday.
Jacques Smalle, DA leader in Limpopo, says the woman has violated the strict measures of national restriction.
According to Smalle, a video shows of the woman dancing with some of her friends at a table full of booze.
The party was apparently on April 12 to celebrate her 39th birthday. Her name is only withheld on legal advice.
“There are businessmen who also attended the party in her house,” says Smalle.
He said the DA had decided to lodge the complaint against the ANC councilor after Pres. Cyril Ramaphosa punished Communications Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams after she went to visit her friend Mduduzi Manana during the state of confinement.
Ramaphosa suspended Ndabeni-Abrahams for two months. She will not receive a salary for one month.
“No one is above the law. The strict rules of the national restriction are there to save lives and everyone must obey it, ”says Smalle.
Donald Selamolela, spokesperson for the ANC in Limpopo, did not respond to inquiries about the ANC councilor in Louis Trichardt.
