President Donald Trump has announced plans to relax social exclusion rules following a phone call with US governors yesterday (April 16).
The White House guidelines suggest a gradual relaxation of the rules – but only in places where many tests have been carried out and have seen a reduction in Covid-19 cases.
The new guidance is intended to ease the restrictions in areas where a small number of the population has been infected while keeping the restrictions in place elsewhere that have seen a high prevalence of coronavirus.
Those places that have seen a reduction in cases, and where many tests have been carried out, could begin the process of reopening businesses and schools.
Those most at risk of infection would be advised to remain at home until the final stages of the process have been completed.
