Masked passengers arrived at Madrid airport on Sunday, while the French crossed the border to buy cheaper alcohol and tobacco in Spain after Spain reopened its borders.
Spain’s borders are now open to all countries belonging to the European Union (EU) except Portugal.
British tourists will also be admitted without having to be quarantined, although they will still be kept in solitary confinement for 14 days in Britain when returning from visits outside the country.
Spaniards are also allowed to move freely in the country. Many may visit friends or family members now that the containment measures have been lifted.
